Our First Week of Homeschooling

{ Our First Week of Homeschooling }

My poor little blog has been so neglected lately, just collecting dust in the corner of the internet. But we have been doing amazing things in our home and by the end of the day I collapse into bed after long days. It is has been a week of trials and errors and trying to find our rhythm. We started the week with trying to maintain a crazy schedule of school work. I may have temporarily lost my mind thinking that the suggested schedule given to us by the curriculum source would ever work for us. Oh silly mama! After an evening of rethinking what I want out homeschooling and what I want out of our daily family life I realized that our oldest can get all the instructional needs met in only in half the time. The extra time is spent learning in other ways than the traditional sense. We are going on hikes and visiting nature centers, kitchen science experiments, cooking, crafting, reading, and playing. It is working much better now that I have come to my senses and we just go with the flow on a daily basis. The girls are happy and this mama is happy. A peaceful home is a happy home.

In other big news, we will be a civilian family before the end of the year. My husband is leaving the Navy and embarking into a new territory. It is an exciting time for us that is full of possibilities. We hope to stay near family and friends. Everyone is excited for what is ahead.

I only had enough time this week to take one picture! But I hope that in the upcoming weeks I am able to share more with you all as we start this crazy and fun journey of homeschooling.
