Snow Days & A Birthday Boy: Part 1
{ Snow Days & A Birthday Boy: Part 1 }
We about 8 or more inches of snow yesterday. I am hoping that this is the last big snow of the season but one can never tell with Maryland weather. The girls were thrilled to have such a big snow to play in. We spent most the day indoors.
I finally bought a set of movable lowercase alphabet letters. It is going to be well worth the money. We are using it currently to build words and spell sight words.
James made balsamic and beer-braised beef with parsnip puree. He cooked it all day in the slow cooker and it made the house smell delicious. (A recipe out of the Smitten Kitchen Cookbook)
The girls spent the morning with art projects. The first was making silly faces with a blank faces worksheet and markers. Then we made a our own big sheet of portraits and landscapes which is inspired by the artful parent activity.
I made a carrot cake for the birthday boy who turns 1 years old today.
Our baby boy is one years old today. We are celebrating with a family party this weekend. I can't believe that entire year has flown by in the blink of an eye. I have loved spending every moment watching him grow into a little boy. I wouldn't trade this time for anything in the world. It is a blessing to have a son. (and two girls, of course) I am just brimming with love these days.
Wow! That year flew by, I can't believe he is one already. Have the most wonderful weekend celebrating. Happy birthday to him and happy birthing day to you Kathleen. xo
