Mindful Mondays
{ Mindful Mondays }
A new post series on Mondays (as often as possible) that calls all things I am doing, thinking, and creating together in one space. A good starting place for the week and a way to ease into Monday.
What I am.....
:: reading- Saint Monkey by Jacinda Townsend. This is a story about two young African American girls growing up in the mid-west/south and how their lives become intertwined during the post- WWI era. I am about 5 chapters in and I am mesmerized but the writing and storytelling. She just gets me pulled in and I can't wait to read the next chapter.
:: listening to - a lot of Chopin and Lizst lately. The nocturnes are mournful and beautiful as they set my soul at ease.
:: studying- cookbooks. A few I borrowed from the library. Right now, I am combing through The Dahlia Bakery Cookbook. So many pretty looking baked goods...so dangerous!
:: creating- I am stuck on felt and felt projects right now. I really love creating with this stuff. I am not sure why but goodness making little felt things makes me happy. Starting on some Valentine's gifts.
:: cooking- pork loin in the slow cooker and sweet potatoes will be baking this evening. I am thinking some good greens to with it. ( I have a slight obsession with southern cooking)
:: educating - my middle gal is working on identifying her alphabet letters and colors. She is my free spirit so I have to let her guide me and we must have fun. That is her one rule.
:: feeling- well, thankfully. The flu has tried to get its foot in the door at our home. I am fighting it off as best as I can.
:: thinking - about an interview I heard on the radio a few days ago. Thich nhat hanh was interviewed and had so many insightful things to say. Mindfulness. I am thinking over the words of what I consider holy men and women.
