Monday Musings

:: Monday Musings ::

It has been a long three weeks in our home. We have been battling upper respiratory infections as it took down each one of  us. Even after days of trying to keep us going, comforting and cuddling sick little ones, and lots of hand-washing, I succumb on Friday night and was out of commission all weekend. I don't like when my little ones are sick but it feels even worse when I can be the mama I want to be because my body just won't keep up with me. I obeyed the signs and took time to rest and let myself heal.
The fog lifted this morning and I am feeling 100% better. I always feel especially thankful after an illness because I realize how blessed I am to have my health. So, with all this new-found thankfulness and energy I decided it was time to get back in the kitchen. It was the perfect rainy day to bake and make soups. With the help of two little kitchen elves, we baked Challah bread, European Peasant Rye Bread, and Chili Pepper Dark Chocolate drizzled sugar cookies. We also made some Chicken Noodle and Mushroom Barley Soups for dinner. I also threw in a picture of my new kitchen curtains. I just love this fabric for the fall and winter months. It captures what we love doing best which is hiking in the woods and the girls would love it if animals would follow them through the woods.
It was such a good day to start the week.
