A bit of this and that on Thanksgiving Eve

:: A bit of this and that on Thanksgiving Eve::

Once again sickness decided to visit our home this week and my oldest gal spent an extra day at home to recover and our sweet little guy suffered from a bit of a fever. Unfortunately, this school year has not been good to our family. We were never a sick family but now with a new environment it seems that illness likes to visit us more than I would like it. Thankfully, it was short lived and we are feeling tip top these days. It was nice to have all my loves at home an extra day before Thanksgiving break. We spent today enjoying the first real snow of this season. It was just lovely and the fat flakes covered everything with a beautiful white blanket. I just love how snow smooths out all the rough edges of winter. The dormant trees and gardens get a nice coating to spruce them up during the shorter days and everything looks like a fairy tale book. I think about how many years we never had snow in our old home and I am glad to live somewhere that I can enjoy the snow again. I also think about next year and what the snow will be like when we are living more off the grid. I am hoping and praying for a nice big piece of land to walk through on those snowy days. ( I am a simple woman, not wanting much)

We have been doing a lot of little things around the house the two days too. We did a lot of crafting and baking in preparation for Thanksgiving at my parent's house. Some turkeys were made and bead bracelets assembled to accompany our outfits. An apple pie, big container of applesauce, and a pumpkin cheesecake are in the refrigerator awaiting their big debut. My dad dropped off an old dresser from their basement that we are going to fix up and refinish. I am thinking it should be used for either herbal storage or yarn storage....oh the possibilities.  I got sewing finished and started a new book. We even through in some room clean outs and rearranging. I get on these motivated swings of cleaning and organizing. They are few and far between so I must take advantage of it. The kiddies are good sports about it and let Mama go on her cleaning binges for an hour or two while they discover treasures that had been lost behind dressers and beds.

I am so thankfully for these days of productive home life. I am also thankfully for my amazing family. It is hard to believe that nearly 10 years ago I met a man, fell in love, got married and built a life with but here we are. We have a lot to be thankful for this year and into the next.

Happy Thanksgiving my dear friends.

I spray painted a salvaged basket silver for a wintry look and added some of my Georgia pine cones

Apple Pie pre-baking

Our boy enamored with the snow ( he did have pants on but escaped after a diaper change)

Even though we live in a very quartered neighborhood, the snow just makes it all very pretty

My kitchen window for the winter months. I am making some felt snowflakes to hang from my evergreen bough.

Oh this face makes me want more babies in the future

A new pair of slippers for the boy. I am going to add suede to the bottom for extra traction.
