Yarn Along

:: Yarn Along ::

early morning pictures are not the best for showing off my projects.

I am working on a simple sweater for our little boy from Easy Baby Knits books. I think I am going to add little decoration on the bottom like an anchor to give it some character. I am still working on my mystery KAL from Ysolda. It is a little slow because it a complicated pattern and I like to take my time but I am looking forward to the end product and I don't mind if it takes a little bit longer. I am already thinking of what to start next but the girls asked for doll sweaters so it looks like I'll start on those next and with this weather I think I am might to whip out a few more hats! It has been projected that we will get 12+ inches of snow! It looks like some knitting will get done!

James gave me my Valentine's Day gift a little early. I have been wanting a Kindle Paperwhite for awhile but it wasn't something I was going to spend money on. I love it! I will always read the printed word but it is nice to switch back and forth especially when it is a new book that the library doesn't have it or there are 100 holds on the book. I am reading The Goldfinch. I wasn't sure if I would like it but I find myself reading late into the night by the light of my Kindle. I love when books surprise me. I am also leafing through The Natural Knitter that I found at the library. I found some pictures in the book from the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival which is exciting because we live near the site that holds the event and we will be attending this year for the first time after years of missing it! Yes, it is on my calendar and yes, I am already stashing away a few dollars here and there for some indulgent yarn purchases in May.

No baby yet....only a few weeks left.

    1. I was thinking an anchor but I am not sure how to go about doing it. felt sewn on or sewn into the actually sweater. I guess I'll do a little internet searching!

  3. Seems lots of people are reading The Goldfinch. I may have to add that to my list. What are the little crackers in the picture on your header? They look pretty tasty.

    1. They are Parmesan Crackers. I usually use Ina Garten's recipe but I found this online through the New York Times. They were delicious.

  4. Thank you for stopping by my little corner this morning. I do hope you will come back.
    Your sweater, I'm sure, will be darling. I love the color combination.
    I like switching back and forth between printed books and my kindle...actually, I prefer printed books, and most of my reading is done that way, but, like you said, it's' nice to have the kindle when a book is not readily available. Have fun with it!

    1. I agree. The kindle will come in handy this summer when we are outside or on a car trip.

  5. I love Claire Montgomerie's patterns. I have her Easy Kids Knits books and I am knitting up a jumper out of it for my eldest at the moment. I have yet to try a kindle, I have tried reading books on my ipad but it is just not the same for me as holding a book.

  6. I recently received a Kindle also and I love the fact that I can borrow books from my library system and from Amazon. I too believe I prefer printed books though.
