This Weekend in Review
We have had a fairly low key weekend mostly because James is finishing up another graduate course and working on a project. The girls and I have been scavenging through antique and consignment shops this weekend and redoing our back flowerbed ( with the help of James). I found a woman willing to part with her 1940s working wooden ironing board so finally after weeks of my broken board and slanted ironing I will have a new board tomorrow! I will have to make a cover for it but I am looking forward to reusing something instead of buying new. ( This current thrifty behavior might be result in weekly blog posts about saving and reusing)
I bought a few old pots and wooden spoons for the girls to add to their kitchen corner. They playing with them and making music with the pots. Our dachshund is not so thrilled. We have been baking bread and making soup for dinner today. Even though it is hot outside, we stick to our Sunday Soup routine. Tonight's menu: Roasted Tomato Basil Soup and freshly baked bread with mozzarella. After the sun drops behind the trees I am hoping to start work on an outdoor play table for the girls. They need a place to do outdoor activities and play with their natural toys. ( pictures to follow this week) And after all the work is done and the babies are sleeping I can finally kick up my feet with some knitting and watch Masterpiece Mystery. It is the Inspector Lewis series and I have a slight crush on Detective James Hathaway.
Here are a couple photos of our new garden space. I don't have any of the old garden because the death of all my plants was more than I could take and I'd like to forget our folly. The herbs seem to thrive out back and I can certain dry them and use all winter. I guess I will continue to rely on our local farm stand and farmers' market for my produce. Someday soon we will have that farm we dream about but for now we will make the best of every situation. Happy Sunday!

I spray painted our old chairs to make them look a little more cheery. I think the patio space need some plants around the edges but all in due time. |
Love your chairs and the colour. Your soup sounds delish, hope you enjoyed it.
