Baking with little ones

We baked a Zucchini Chocolate Cake with Orange Glaze today. It was a special quiet time with my eldest daughter in the kitchen working peacefully in the quiet of the afternoon while little baby napped. She really enjoys cooking and especially baking ( I think it is because sweets taste so good). I had ingredients that needed to be used and this cake fit the bill. We only had one little mishap with a rogue egg and the kitchen floor. I am sure you can guess what happened. The baking was fun and I love that my 3 year old is so into cooking at such a young age. She pours over cookbooks in my kitchen picking out things to make or suggestions for mama. Most of which are cupcakes...but really who doesn't love a good cupcake?
It warms my heart to see my girl love the art of cooking in this world of convenience and "fast" foods. I hope to pass onto her the joys of preparing good food for others to enjoy. It thrills me to watch someone's face eat my cooking and savor the taste of homemade. Now, don't get me wrong,  I am not trying to be boastful. It is nothing really but reading and applying the recipe with love and affection for every ingredient.
