To Etsy or not to Etsy....
So, I am thinking of opening a store on the website, Etsy and for those of you who don't know, it is a website where you can buy and sell homemade goods, supplies, or vintage. I think the major thing that is holding me back is my fear of failure. What if no one likes anything I make? Or what if my goods aren't "good" enough? I am still mulling over this idea and need some advice and motivation.....so readers, that is your job....give me some advice....
On a different note, I am having a Christmas Cookie Exchange on Friday....pictures and blog post to follow. I am looking forward to making new friends in the neighborhood.
Completely random thought, I really like chickens. I take after my Aunt Betty in this respect. She had a chicken themed kitchen. I am thinking about her these days. Christmas one of her favorite times of the year. Someday once we get out of the military, I plan on having a few chickens. It should be interesting.

I say go for it!! Ive had two shops on Etsy for a couple of years and Ive loved every minute of it. Im in the midst of revamping them right now and havent listed anything in a while but the key is to try to list as often as you can and check out other peoples listings to get some great ideas for your photos. If you have any questions, Id be happy to answer them if I can. A new year is coming up so why dont you take advantage of it. You dont know unless you try. : ) By the way, I completely relate to your fear of failure. I was just a buyer on Etsy for a long time before I mustered up the courage to open a shop. Good luck to you!!! : )~ Wendyhttp://Crickleberrycottage.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteThank you for the advice and motivation. I will definitely have questions and if you dont mind my questions then I would love the insight.
ReplyDeleteDo it. Just do it! I was struggling with the same fears- and I can still feel them under the surface, but ultimately, I love making the herbal goodies I whip up, and I love offering them to others, so I decided to give myself the deadline of January 15th to start up on Etsy. The retail side of it comes second. If you are making what you love, offering them up, then you cant fail. Do what you love!
ReplyDeleteYour sewing projects look amazing! Especially your baby book - I bet a lot of families would enjoy something so special and unique :o)
