Jane Austen's Birthday!
Today deserves two posts! Jane Austen was born on this day, in 1775. To say that I love Jane Austen and her works is understatement. I have read all her works, watched all the movies, and own 2 biographies about her life. Even my girls have names taken from Austen's works ( thankfully my husband tolerates such things). In fact, he will even watch movies based on the literary works.
Why so obsessed? I think it may have to do with the fact that her books take me to a time of elegance with her pastoral settings, country dances, and budding romances. It could also be that a woman during a time when women did not do such things as write novels, took her life into her own hands and created.

I did not know that! I will have to tell my daughter. We love her works as well and have seen many movies. My husband and sons actually LIKE watching the movies (okay, 2 of my 3 sons are so-so about it). I just found a copy of a new-to-me work of hers at a thrift store: a compilation of short works called Lady Susan, The Watsons and Sanditon.
