Weekend Ritual: Farmer's Market

We embraced the organic, grass-fed, free-range, local movement about 2 years ago and haven't looked back. I think my "ah-ha" moment was the night I watched " Food Inc." Something just clicked with me and I ran with it. My husband lovingly embraces my crazy far-out ideas and seems to be really loving it himself. However, when it comes to filling the pantry with healthy, soulful foods it is not as easy as it seems. We don't shop at a regular grocery anymore but rather we go to a "healthy" supermarket, EarthFare, for most of our food stuffs and supplement with our local CSA and farmer's market. This brings me to the point of my post; our weekend ritual is packing up the kiddies (real early by most standards) and making our way down to the farmer's market. I really do enjoy seeing all the people and goods. Everyone is welcome and it is a melting pot of people. Young, old, rich, poor, yuppie, hippie, food addicts, locals, tourists, and us ( I classify our family as gypsies since we move so much with the military). In a world of digital communication it is nice to have human connections because after all that is what separates us from all other things. I urge everyone to find their local farmer's market and indulge!
