This Moment

:: This Moment ::

A Friday ritual. A single photo- no words- capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor, and remember. If you're inspired to do the same leave a link to "your moment" in the comments for all to find and see.

Dreaming of Summer....

:: Dreaming of Summer ::

As the eternal planner in me ponders the summer and those lovely warm long days and cool nights, I have begun planning what the girls will be doing this summer. Below is the link to the page on my blog. Feel free to browse, make suggestions, and use the plan if you are so inclined. If you do use the plan and share it on your blog or site I would ask that you refer back to my blog as your source. Just we can spread the mama blogging love!  Thanks & feedback is welcome!

Yarn Along

:: Yarn Along ::

This week is all about working on finishing up projects. I am still working on my mystery knit along from Ysolda. It probably take awhile before I actually finish it but is fun to do. I am looking forward to the finished product. Meanwhile, I am finishing up a baby sweater for our little guy who will be here soon ( I hope!) and I am finishing up a short sleeve sweater for my oldest gal. I would love to have this finished and complete a smaller one before Easter so both my gals have something pretty to wear.

I am finishing up The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. It is not exactly what I expected but I really liked it.  It is good to be surprised by books. I won't give any more away since some of you might want to read it. I am starting The House Girl by Tara Conklin. Another book recommendation from a friend. I don't know how far I will get because things are going to get a shake up very soon with the arrival of our little guy. I think reading may slip off the radar for awhile at least until we get into a new routine.

If you are wondering, I am protesting winter by having some new potted plants in my house and a spring looking tablecloth. I am ready to cast off the heavy coat of winter and enjoy the warmer season. Until then, I'll be dreaming of daffodils.

A place for our little boy...

:: A place for our little boy ::

This past weekend was a long one but a productive one. I was able to finish the nursery for our little boy. He has a little place to rest and grow when he is tired during the day and eventually during the night. I don't like to rush our children into their own rooms because that time with mama and daddy is special. However, I love decorate and have a space for the children when they need to rest. I am excited to share this special space with you all because almost all of it is handmade. I took a giant risk by taking on a whole room by just using my own talents but I am so happy with the results. It has increased my confidence in sewing so much and I could not be happier.

We decided to go with a Woodland Pals theme for the room. The furniture is all from IKEA which we bought when our oldest gal, E was born. It has survived 5 moves and 2 children so far. I think it is worth every penny.

I used an Amy Butler pattern for the pillows, crib skirt, and quilt. Every boy needs decorative pillows right? hehe:)

Coming home sweater and cap

A shelf made by my brother. He also made a lamp but it isn't pictured yet.

Now, we wait....
