Saturday in the Swamp
Today, we took the girls to the Cypress Gardens very near to our home. The weather was a warm and sunny 70 degrees and we couldn't bear the thought of not going out to enjoy nature. I'd like to think that these outings are instilling in our children a love for nature and the outdoors. My husband and I love being outside enjoying the natural surroundings which tells me that someday after we finish this whole navy journey a small farm in a rural part of the South is exactly where we should be.
A little background on Cypress Gardens, it is a county owned park that promotes the natural surroundings, conservation of both flora and fauna, exploration of historical grounds, and recreation for the whole family. It was owned by several families dating back to the 1700s when it was a part of Dean Hall Plantation an important Rice Plantation. It was opened to the public in the 20th century and is now a 170 acre park.
Overall, it was a wonderful day of learning and exploring the wonders of the South. We had a peachy time followed by late afternoon naps! All in all...a good day!

ReplyDeleteYikes! Dont let that cottonmouth snake escape!:) Oh well, nice pictures you got there! That picture of a cottonmouth snake captured my eyes because here in Virginia, those snakes are more dangerous especially during their hibernation. In some places where they dont have to hibernate (they only hibernate when theyre living in a place that gets really cold during winter) like Florida and Texas, the mortality rate is lower.
