Some words

Equinox

The deep Celtic beats of earthy drums around bonfires,
the low humming and singing of ancient hymns.
The light casting out all anonymity.
Loneliness has no place here.

Tonight is a gathering, a collective cry
a communal vow to awaken the earth.
To shed the heavy cloaks of winter and release the plaited hair.

Dancing with steady feet and wild hearts,
uplifting the soul and setting free the spirit.
Reaching into the shadows of our ancestors
to rekindle song and prayer.

All through the night until the velvet darkness
fades into the softness of dawn's first light.

The Happy List: Home Edition

{ The Happy List: Home Edition }

The temperature is finally warming up and I opened the windows today to let in the fresh air and sunshine. It was truly glorious to experience it. The cold always makes me forget how wonderful those first warm days are after a long winter. A friend suggested that in the spring we get together at her farm let the children frolic and we can chitter in the sun. Sounds wonderful. It got me thinking about all things that make happy right now. I am starting with things around my home because there is no comfort like being at home.

1. hanging up and organizing a quilt

2. listening to Lorenna McKennitt radio

3. a pile of unread books just waiting to be read

4. little creations just waiting to be brought to life

5. puppy snuggles

6. a plant that I bought near death at the end of last season which is now thriving

7. little fairy gifts left by my girls

8. a new work space for me and a creative space for the little ones

9. a pretty blue pitcher that I recently bought for $10. Now it sits on our table every night.

10. watching my girls wear the knits I make for them

Happy, Happy.

Mindful Mondays

{ Mindful Mondays }

A series on Mondays (as often as possible) that calls all things I am doing, thinking, and creating.

:: reading- An Appetite for Violets by Martine Bailey

:: listening to - some little birds outside my window. It is almost 60 degrees and I couldn't bare not to fling open the windows and let in the light and air!

:: studying- graduate school applications. It is time to get back in the saddle. ( I think) Now to decide what I want to do. I am thinking of a completing a graduate certificate in Holistic Health and Wellness Coaching.

:: creating- a lap quilt. I can't decide whether I want to keep it or sell it.

:: cooking- homemade chili and cornbread with some leftovers from our son's birthday party.

:: educating - myself on the options of home schooling on oldest next year. It is an internal battle I am having right now. We are moving and I am thinking that everyone would be happier if we took the plunge and did it. Any advice would be welcome!

:: feeling- happy because the temperatures are finally warming up and I can feel spring as it begins to creep into my soul.

:: thinking - about what I can else can be downsized in our home. We are on a minimalist path right now and since we are moving in the summer, I figured it would be the best time to cleanse our things and refresh everything. I feel better with less stuff and I never thought I would feel that way.

On another note, Congratulations to Cathie  J. who won my little giveaway of the a free book!
