:: Celebration ::

Our oldest, Miss E celebrated her fifth birthday yesterday. It is hard to believe that five years I left for the hospital to have our first child. My husband was deployed and it was up to my mom to offer all the strength and support during labor. I didn't think I could do it but in the wee morning hours Miss E was born. I still remember the shear happiness of holding her in my arms and the first time James saw her when he stepped off the boat. The last five years have flown by and I have watched my baby turn into a little girl.

We enjoyed a birthday dinner with family last night. Both girls helped make the birthday cake.(disclaimer: I am not very good at decorating cakes but Miss E enjoyed it none the less.)
Saturday we will have a first ever birthday party with a bunch of little girls at our home. Miss E is super excited to have friends over.

As we celebrate birthdays and our children get older I realize how blessed I am to watch these little people grow, explore, and learn in this big world. So while Miss E celebrates her birthday I also get to celebrate the joy of motherhood.

Yarn Along

:: Yarn Along ::

I am on my last clue of the mystery KAL that I started in January. ( I am a slow knitter and I had a baby so you know) I am so excited to see how it turns out! I want it to be done for the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival so I can wear it there. Oh yes, the festival is only 2 weeks away and I have saved my pennies to splurge on some wonderful fibers and scout out spinning wheels. I finished my youngest gal's sweater and she loved it. She proceeded to tell everyone at church that "Mama made my sweater" and I was secretly bursting at the seams with happiness.  I have decided that my dishcloths cannot stand another round in the washing machine so it is time for some easy knitting.

I finished reading The Movement of Stars and can I just it! I wasn't so impressed at first but I kept forging ahead and I am so glad I did. What a great story and it makes me want to buy a telescope and start studying the night skies. I have my hubby half convinced that it would make a great Mother's Day gift. I just started The Signature of All Things so we'll see what happens. I always have a back up if it doesn't work out.

And if you want some area information, let me know.
