This Moment

:: This Moment ::

A Friday ritual. A single photo- no words- capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor, and remember.

If you are inspired, please leave your "moment".

Happy Weekend and Blessings!

Yarn Along

:: Yarn Along ::

Joining Ginny of Small Things

This week I completed two cats from the pattern found on the blog, Natural Suburbia. First, I want to say that Linda, you are a creative genius! I love the pattern and it was so fun to knit! Second, I know my girls will love this little kitties as a Valetine's gift. The doll in the picture is my own creation. I just cast on (last night) the Indian Summer Shawl and another clutch bag for my sister in law ( her birthday is next month). Not much to show but I decided to make a shawl for myself because every time we go into church or a restaurant I freeze! I thought a stylish shawl would be fun to wear instead of shivering.

Lent has begun and I have my reading for the season all lined up.  A book on practical ways to celebrate the Lenten season. A book by Mother Teresa. ( I don't think you can go wrong with her) and a book by a Buddhist nun. The last might seem a little strange for a Catholic gal to read but I am open to all walks of life and thought. I find her writing to be inspiring and thought provoking. On the MUCH lighter side, I am still reading Uninvited Guests. It is good book full of funny and interesting characters with a crazy plot. I thought it would be kind of like Downton Abbey but really can anything be like DA? Never! I've been watching it since day one and I am completely enthralled by it.

We went to the library last night and look who came home with three new cookbooks. Gosh, I love the library. It is one of my favorite places!

Happy Knitting! xo.

Laissez les bon temps rouler!

:: Laissez les bon temps rouler! ::
( Let the good times roll!)

In an attempt to be clever I decided to use a little French I knew to title my post. ( I hope it is right, please feel free to correct me!) But this is pretty much my philosophy this week! We are celebrating several different things this week in very different ways. Mardi Gras ( Fat Tuesday), Ash Wednesday, and Valentine's Day! Phew, this wears me out. Today we celebrated Fat Tuesday in style with mask making, dancing, good food, and homemade doughnuts. The girls and I had a lot of fun and there was A LOT of glitter in this house.

We also made Valentines  for daddy...

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and our home will take on a different feel. Lent is upon us and though the girls do not understand this season it is a time of quiet reflection for my husband and I. I think of Lent as a "restart" button. It is time to get right and focused on my life. Tomorrow we will have ashes placed upon our heads to remind us that from dust we came and to dust we will go. What matters is the time in between, what will we do with it? I do not consider myself pious or particularly devout but Lent is my time to rediscover and explore my spirituality. It is my time to look into myself and on others with love and acceptance because truly isn't that what God is....Love.
