{ Committing }

The season of Spring is nearly upon us even though it feels a lot colder here and I have been thinking a lot about what will be happening during this new season. We found out that we will be moving again in the summer months because James'  work commitment and the lease don't line up. Sigh, it is not what I wanted to hear but I hardly have control over the Navy. We have been starting the inevitable hunt for a new rental because we are not ready to settle anywhere yet. After the Navy commitment ends in about a year he will be looking for a new job and we can finally settle somewhere and put down roots. So, the rental hunt continues. We decided the other night that it was time to really take a hard look at a few area bases and their housing. It would be the easiest and least expensive option. We will be viewing some base housing in the next week and committing by sending in an application to be put on the waiting list. Commitment #1

With the move comes the concern over schooling and what will work best for our family. I took the leap and ordered a catalog from Calvert School yesterday and scheduled a phone conference with one of their advisers. Homeschooling our oldest who will be in 1st grade this fall scares the heck out of me. I am worried about doing the right thing and will it be good enough. Thankfully, I have a degree in education and a group of supportive home school friends along with a loving family. I still worry about managing 3 children two of which will be schooling at home. I have a million things to work out and questions to be answered but I know it will come with time. Commitment #2

Spring right around the corner and the farmer's markets opening has given me pause to think about cleaning out our pantry and starting over fresh. I signed up a online workshop entitled Whole Food Kitchen from the website I figured this is the perfect place to start.  Commitment #3

We have nearing the end of our 40 bags in 40 days pledge. I have gotten rid of a lot more than 40 bags and it feels amazing. We are getting rid of what holds us down and clearing out the clutter. Less is more. I am hoping we can stay with this trend over the next few months as our living situation changes and we will need to make adjustments.  Commitment # 4

 Commitments are not to be taken lightly and I know what lies before us.  All these commitments will take time and perseverance on the part of everyone in our family. I know that things will work out in the end. So for now I light a candle, say a prayer, and meditate on what the future holds.

And now some pretty things around our home....

Mindful Mondays

{ Mindful Mondays }

 A series on Mondays (as often as possible) that calls all things I am doing, thinking, and creating.

:: reading- The Storied Life of AJ Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin

:: listening to - the sounds of spring and This American Life podcasts from this past winter.

:: studying- a few herbal cookbooks. I am getting ready to make some new herbal teas for spring.

:: creating- an Easter wreath for the front door. I just finished painting some paper maiche eggs and winding yarn on a wreath shape. Also finishing up my lap quilt. ( I will share both next week)

:: cooking- grilled lamb burgers with fresh tzatziki

:: educating - myself on the options of home schooling on oldest next year. (still) and moving plans for this summer.

:: feeling- excited for spring to be right around the corner. I am so ready for warmer temperatures and blooming flowers and trees. Buzzing bees and tweeting birds. Oh glorious spring!

:: thinking - and praying for unspoken intentions. And about the upcoming events this summer that will be exciting and new for our family.
