This Moment

:: This Moment ::

A Friday ritual. A single photo- no words- capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor, and remember.

 This requires a little explanation. The girls built a castle together and they worked so well helping each other to achieve the same goal, a castle! I was a very proud mama.

Bits & Pieces

:: Bits & Pieces of Home ::

 Everyone so often I like to share some things about my home that make me happy and peaceful. Below are my rescued plants. My neighbor had to move and she couldn't take them with her and I couldn't bear to let me go to the trash. I love adopting plants and it is much on economical then adopting more pets at this point in our lives. Besides, green plants give off this positive energy that just fills my home.

Pineapple Plant: it really is the top of a pineapple growing.

pretty tree fern thing...I have no idea what it is.

our faithful pup, Scooter.

Asparagus Fern

the pot has since been cleaned out. It is HEAVY but awesome. I am going to plant  some herbs in  it.

Pinot Noir, Parm, and homemade bread...nothing better:)

a fun corner of my home.

more bread....we love bread.

Hope you have enjoyed a little visit.

Yarn Along

:: Yarn Along ::

I got side tracked with a new project this past week. I was knitting a cloche hat in the brioche stitch but I realized that I just wanted something simple to make. So, I found this pattern on Ravelry: Historical Knitted Cap. It is just easy enough to knit while watching TV or sitting out back watching the kiddies play. It is turning out quite nicely and I am already thinking about what I can add to the hat to " doll it up" a bit. It is funny that I am knitting a cloche hat because I just finished Maisie Dobbs (set in the 1920's) and I checked out the second book in the series. It was a really great book and I recommend it. I checked out some other books from the library so I have plenty to read over the next few weeks. I am still working on my first pattern and hopefully I will be able to share with you all soon!

Happy Knitting!

:: Weekends ::

Better later than never! We had a really fun filled extra long weekend because my brother was here to visit us.

Our weekend was filled with...

* pizza and movie night
* helping our beloved neighbor pack and move away ( very sad to see her move)
* outdoor seafood cooking ( shrimp and calms)
* hikes and walks through the woods
* late nights on the back porch with drinks and laughter
* a day at the beach

But today was filled with cleaning and good-byes....Mondays are just no fun!
