This Moment

:: This Moment ::

A Friday ritual. A single photo- no words- capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor, and remember.

Joining Amanda of Soulemama

A short explanation: I have been trying my hand at wildlife photography. This squirrel is very docile and fearless. He is a frequent friend on our back porch and this week he almost jumped in my lap. I was startled to say the least.

Works of Art Thursday

:: Works of Art Thursday::

So, I struggle with what to write on this blog. Sometimes I feel like I write the same things over and over again. It feels boring to me at times. I decided to start really diving into my passions. I have a page dedicated to my thoughts. Some have to do with motherhood while others might be about politics or world happenings. I am a firm believer that even though I am a stay at home mother I still have relevant feelings and opinions about the world around me.
Long story made short:  I have decided that Thursdays will be dedicated to Art because who doesn't love Art ? Every week I put a work of art on my computer background to look at and maul over during the week. Sharing this love of Art is part of my plan.

This Week:

Yarn Along

:: Yarn Along ::

Joining Ginny of Small Things

This past week I have been sorting and organizing my yarn stash and my brain has been going a million different directions with knitting projects. We found out last week that our lives might be changing in a few short months ( No, I am not pregnant...yet) and we might be living in a colder climate. I don't want to say too much because I am afraid that it will put a jinx on our abundantly good turn of fortunate. So, I have been thinking about all the warm snuggly things I want to knit for the girls and I. My husband is a simple man and only wants a hat or two. But let's face it, girls need lots of stylish knits. The first picture is of a shawl I found in one of my books and I think it would make a great spring shawl. So, I got our the yarn and I am going to wind it this week. As for my Indian Summer Shawl, it is coming along beautiful and I am loving the colors. And my cozy nook blanket is coming nicely but slowly. I do love the red contrasting with the oatmeal.

I am starting a new book. I bought this book for my IPad but I cannot stand reading things on the computer screen. I need the weight of the book and the crisp turn of pages. We are bibliophiles in this home. I think we have about 1000 books in our home. I am not joking. I never sold back a single college textbook and that is where it started. I always thought I might need them some day. I am not sure if mothering little children requires readings of Modern Japanese History or the works of Cicero but who knows! My husband is my enabler and fellow book collector and our girls look and read books every single day. I pity the moving companies because lifting boxes of books are terribly heavy. Anyway, I am reading The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown. It is a library book so it will only stay with me for a while. I have my newest Martha Stewart Living Magazine. I know a lot of people may not like her but my goodness she is clever when it comes to all things domestic. I especially love this cover because of the peonies. I can't wait until the summer and my mother's peonies bloom. They are so beautiful.

Sorry for my ramblings today....Happy Knitting. xo.

Playing House

 :: Playing House::

The last couple days have consisted of our girls playing house. I love watching them cradle their dolls in their arms pretending to play mommy. They have had several tea parties,cleaned their "house" , and taken care of their "babies". It is comforting to watch my young daughters mimic the loving ways of the people in their lives. It makes me think of the years to come and what the future holds for my daughters but also reminds me to be in the moment and enjoy their imagination. My heart overflows with joy when I watch the future take shape.
