:: Candlemas ::

The Feast of  Presentation of Christ in the Temple. This is our first year of learning and celebrating this special day. We had every intention of making candles but illness has been plaguing our home so we had to put those plans on hold for now. We enjoyed a candle- lit dinner and some quiet family time.

Week-End Rewind

:: Week-End Rewind::

This week has been crazy, good, bad, and ugly all rolled into one. Never a dull moment in our home..never. Here is a little glimpse of the past week...

Our letter of the week was "Mm"

Some fun activites...

Baking in the kitchen with Mama: brownies & muffins (for the freezer)

The first of Valentine's Day gifts for the girls. Two handmade dolls. They were fun to make and super easy.

We now have a hole in our ceiling. My husband was doing work in the attic when he slipped and put his foot through the ceiling. To make it worse, all of the ceiling and insulation fell into a pot of soup that was cooking for dinner. Needless to say, I was a tad distraught and frantic.

Here's to a quiet Sunday....but wait it is Super Bowl Sunday and our team the Baltimore Ravens are playing!

This Moment

:: This Moment ::

 A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.

Yarn Along

:: Yarn Along ::

Joining Ginny of Small Things

The knitting gods have smiled on me! I was really worried that the lining and little clutch wasn't going to turn out the way I wanted but it did. I am so thrilled with it. I am even contemplating writing my own pattern for it, making them, and putting it into my future Etsy shop. For now, I will just make another one for my mom. And for those of you wondering about how to line a knit item, there are about a million tutorials online. Just pick the one you like!

Almost finished the In Threes: A Baby Cardigan. Just need to finish and do some cosmetic work on it.

I finished reading The Curious Incident of the dog in the night-time by Mark Haddon. It is told in the eyes of an adolescent boy with autism. It was an interesting read and I enjoyed it. My stack of books is growing but last night I started, Mrs. Robinson's Disgrace: The Private Diary of a Victorian Lady. I am reading a chapter a week of Simplicity Parenting. It is a slow pace but I am trying to let it all sink in. I also just got a new herbal recipes book.

I heard a reading of The Great Gatsby and I think I might re-read it next. I have been tempted to do my yearly reading of To Kill A Mockingbird but I am trying to wait until this summer so I can read it  on the anniversary of its publishing. We are taking a tour of the south this summer and visiting Monroeville, Alabama which is Harper Lee's hometown. It is my favorite book and a tragic but beautifully written story.
