This Moment

:: This Moment ::

This Moment ::  A Friday ritual. A single photo- no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor, and remember.

Our Snowy Day

:: Our Snowy Day ::

We have had a lovely day filled with so much fun and play. I have learned to prepare a lot of little fun things to do on days when we are snowed in. It is still snowing right now after a break this afternoon. I think we have about 2 feet of snow. So, tomorrow will be a cozy Valentine's Day inside with each other and a venture out in the snow to play.

Yarn Along

:: Yarn Along ::

early morning pictures are not the best for showing off my projects.

I am working on a simple sweater for our little boy from Easy Baby Knits books. I think I am going to add little decoration on the bottom like an anchor to give it some character. I am still working on my mystery KAL from Ysolda. It is a little slow because it a complicated pattern and I like to take my time but I am looking forward to the end product and I don't mind if it takes a little bit longer. I am already thinking of what to start next but the girls asked for doll sweaters so it looks like I'll start on those next and with this weather I think I am might to whip out a few more hats! It has been projected that we will get 12+ inches of snow! It looks like some knitting will get done!

James gave me my Valentine's Day gift a little early. I have been wanting a Kindle Paperwhite for awhile but it wasn't something I was going to spend money on. I love it! I will always read the printed word but it is nice to switch back and forth especially when it is a new book that the library doesn't have it or there are 100 holds on the book. I am reading The Goldfinch. I wasn't sure if I would like it but I find myself reading late into the night by the light of my Kindle. I love when books surprise me. I am also leafing through The Natural Knitter that I found at the library. I found some pictures in the book from the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival which is exciting because we live near the site that holds the event and we will be attending this year for the first time after years of missing it! Yes, it is on my calendar and yes, I am already stashing away a few dollars here and there for some indulgent yarn purchases in May.

No baby yet....only a few weeks left.

A free moment...

A free moment....

to breathe, to think, and to write. After 9 months of pregnancy and now in the final weeks of waiting I have been trying to take it easy. Of course, this is easier said then done. Everything is ready or as ready as we will be because every baby is different and there are two sets of helpful hands instead of one this time. I joke that if I get near anything sharp I may pop! I am hoping to share the nursery with you as soon as I get a lampshade today for a lamp my brother made for our little guy. It is quite an achievement for me because everything in it is handmade ( except the furniture) and I am excited to share later this week.

The girls made Valentine's Day cards for family and friends yesterday and we got those mailed off before the "big" winter storm is headed our way. This year we cheated and went to Michael's Craft store because sometimes it is easier to use self-adhesive heart stickers than glue!

I'd love to stick around and tell you more but we are heading out early this morning to get some food supplies before the snowstorm. I don't do well with crowds in the market so the earlier the better!

Hoping your Tuesday is filled with love and light!
