Creative Friday

:: Creative Friday ::

Today I am joining up with Linda for my friday post.

Our first joint project. My husband and I recycled an old play table with a cheery blue paint and chalkboard paint. I added some sewn chair cushions.

They love it!

these days

:: these days::

This post has been a week in the making with thoughts and words floating around my brain. I catch a little something thoughtful to say here or there but a moment has not passed this week where I can put all those thoughts into something meaningful.

I have been thinking these past weeks about our life and me. I turn thirty this year and I am not worried about getting old or leaving my twenties but I do catch myself comparing my life with others at times. (My opinion is that certain social media sites are a hot bed of self doubt.)

As a result, this week I decided to document all the things in my week that may seem mundane to some but give my life depth and meaning. What I have realized is that my life is nothing like my friends' lives for many reasons. But that does not matter because we live our own lives and in no way should to be like anyone but ourselves. I really am happy in my skin. Our way of life is not mainstream in many ways but it gives us great joy. My husband is my rock and sensitive soul in uniform while I am his free spirited wife and with our pixie girls we make up a family.

So,  as I sit here with my girls enjoying the warmer temperatures that winters in the South afford us, I know that these days and every day is the best of my life.

(hope this didn't ramble on too long but I just wanted to get it all out)

Yarn Along

:: Yarn Along ::

Joining Ginny of Small Things

2013 has brought on a flurry of ideas and projects that could be completed this year. I am keeping a journal of knitting ideas for the year so that I don't feel lost once I complete a project. The list is getting long but the possibilities are endless. I am working on In Threes A Baby Cardigan for my youngest gal in a cheery shade of blue and a set of On the Go-veralls in a earthy mustard. I am starting work this week on my bee keeper's quilt (finally, I have been a bit delayed). I also have a lovely little bag to carry all knitting around town. (A handmade gift from my mother in law when my husband and I were first married). I am still reading Flight Behavior and I am looking through some gardening books because the garden season will be upon us here in the south. It is time to start thinking about what we will be growing.

What are you knitting?

Creating New Spaces

:: Creating New Spaces ::

A new year brings new hopes, dreams, and goals for the upcoming year. Each year passes quicker than the last and the girls grow before our eyes. As our family grows so does our need for spaces and since we are limited on room in this home I must be wise with our use of space. We have created two new spaces in the home that will foster a quiet space for thoughtful work or study. The second space is made especially for the girls to be creative with all forms on medium. They can even draw on the table! It is so important to me that the girls have a chance to be free to create new things. Finally, we ALL have a space. My next project is cleaning out a space for my herbs and supplies as a embark on an online course, Apothecary Circle.

As the weather warms we look to the outdoors and the possibilities of a new garden, outdoor play space, and cozy screened relaxation space are endless!
