This Moment

:: This Moment ::

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember

A New Space...

:: A New Space ::

I have been cleaning and organizing a new space that is all my own. We live in a small home with very little extra space. It is hard to downsize when your family is growing but we have been adjusting these last 9 months. I always say that it takes a good year to find a place for everything which can be frustrating when we move every 2 to 3 years. The Navy is a lot of things but kind to my cleaniness and organization quirks it is not.  However, I think that I am FINALLY happy with my new sewing space. It has wonderful afternoon sunlight and a great view. It is in our bedroom which complicates things a bit but my husband is very gracious about it. He says that once we settle down that I will have a small well-lit room just for me. Isn't that what every mama and wife wants? A little retreat to spend some quiet time. But for now this little corner will be my retreat where I can work, think, pray, and rejuvenate because a balanced mama is a happy mama. I just thought I'd share the new space with you.

I am still working on Christmas sweaters for the girls and I think I will be working on them for a while longer. But I did make a dishcloth pattern and constructed one. I love it! It is textured and pretty easy. I think it will be a great little addition to gifts for the females in my family.  I don't really want to wipe my counters and dishes with this but alas I need a new dishcloth. I just ordered several patterns from Magpie Patterns and I ordered some yarn. So, I'll be starting some beautiful "neck candy" soon.

I finished The Widow's Daughter, it was really good and a little bit sad in the end. I have heard a little bit about this book so I wanted to check it out. It seems a little sad and I always hate books about mothers and babies that face troubles and trials. It hurts my heart as a mother but I do love a good story. My other set of books are getting me ready for the Advent/Christmas season. I want to do something special with the girls for Advent but they are still very little. I also found this book about homepreschool that I am finding quite interesting. This year has been a electic mess of learning and finding our place. It is kind of fun just letting go and learning for the sake of fun and growth. Well-- that's all for now. Happy Knitting!

Monday Morning Hike

:: Monday Morning Hike ::

This morning decided to set off and take a trip to our local state park that is only about 10 minutes from our home.  Even the the skies were filled with clouds and it threatened of rain, we set off to explore and discover. The park sits along the Crooked River, it is home too many creatures like feral hogs, bobcats, white tailed deer, ospery, cranes, birds, and armadillo. The girls enjoyed a leisurely hike through the woods and we even stopped at a birding platform to watch the waters. I think it was a great way to start the week. We centered ourselves with some time in the forest.
